Fall Clean-Up Services Help Your Property Survive the Winter
Fall clean-up is less about cleaning up and more about preparation for Winter. By addressing issues in the Fall you can prevent plant diseases and ensure your lawn doesn’t get smothered and choked out when the snow begins to fall. This makes the job of restoring your landscape much simpler when the cold season ends.
Lay of The Land has provided Ontario residents with reliable Fall clean-up services year after year since 2007. Our lawn maintenance experts are fully trained and well equipped to prepare your property for the coming cold months so that the lush richness of your lawn is preserved. Our work is effective and we deliver promptly and consistently which is why we are the preferred choice for Fall clean-up lawn services.
Preparation Prevents Problems
The Winter time will bring about harsh weather conditions that will likely cause “winterkill” which is a term used to describe the death of many landscape elements and vegetation. Trees will go bare, shrubs will become overrun with dead leaves and branches, weeds will attempt to settle in on your flower beds, the grass will go yellow and limp and any water elements or other garden structures will freeze over.
This is a crucial time to protect your beautiful landscape and Lay of The Land knows just how to do it. We start by putting your flower beds and gardens “to bed.” This is done by airing out the soil that has been compacted over the year, leveling and reseeding, fertilizing to restore nutrient levels that were diminished over the summer and prune back to give your flowers room. We’ll also plant Fall bulbs that you’ll be able to enjoy for a Spring bloom.
These vital steps will give your plants a fighting chance during the harshest time of Mother Nature’s wrath. After the gardens and beds are addressed we’ll move to the lawn. All dead leaves will be removed in a manner that does not damage your lawn. This is so the grass isn’t smothered to death after it snows. The lawn is fertilized and watered so that it has a chance to grow a healthy layer before winterkill sets in. Then we mow it extremely low. Trees and shrubs are also pruned heavily. This will prevent them from being stifled by overgrowth of dead branches and leaves.
After taking these steps your landscape will be properly protected from the harsh cold and set up for success come Spring time. The idea is to minimize the damage of winterkill and therefore make the restoration process a quick and easy process.
